Daily Schedule

Schedule Ideas for Distance Learning

  • Math
    • Ten Minute Idea: have worksheets ready, print them out ahead of time or use provided material. Just have a several day’s worth ready so you don’t have to spend time looking for materials.
    • Accelerate Math-AR/Math Facts in a Flash is suggested school site. I will be able to monitor each student’s achievements as we have been using in class. If your child does not remember their log in please email me and I will send it to you!   https://hosted314.renlearn.com/704019/
  • Languages -
    • Ten Minute Idea: this would be a good time to play a language game, or look over some sight word flashcards. See how many new words you can learn.
    • Memorize Sight Words is suggested school site - https://sightwords.com/sight-words/fry/
    • Suggested areas to work on are:
      • digraphs such as sh, ph, th, ch, and ea.
      • Beginning Blends some examples are fl, tr, sl, sm, sn, gr, and str
      • Word Endings ed, s, and ing
      • Create Rhyming words such as “cat, “sat”, “hat” and “mat”
      • Count the number of syllables in words.

You may look up videos on You tube to help with learning concepts.

    • Spelling Skills to work on:
      • Spell three- and four-letter words with short vowel sounds
      • Identify and create contractions such as "isn't" or "wasn't"
      • Spell words with specific rules such as those with a silent e
      • Recognize compound words such as "baseball" and "bullfrog"
      • Alphabetize words
  • Art -
    • Drawing or painting (but have the materials ready). Either work on the same picture for 10 minutes each day (watercolors are good for this), or try drawing the same picture each day (an animal?) but with a 'focus' word (small, angry, red, funny, invisible). If you are feeling really desperate, then just have some coloring pages ready.
  • Working in a Journal
    • Try working on small creative writing activities for kids. Main thing to work on is complete sentence structure (noun, verb, descriptive words(adjectives), capitalization and punctuation).
  • Exercise
    • A quick burst of activity. Try skipping or dancing - or learning to juggle! This is a good one to put in just before the last activity - to keep everyone interested!
    • Go Noodle is a good website for exercise. There are Go Noodle videos on YouTube if you don’t want to sign up on there site.
  • History
    • One possible way to cover these in 10 minutes is by doing quizzes. I set things up like Mastermind - each child rushes to the chair and answers three questions - then it is the next child's turn. I usually just make up questions based on what we have been doing, but you may like to use a quiz book.
  • Science -
    • OK – You have to be feeling brave to attempt this in 10 minutes, but its a good use of those 101 science experiments for kids books you see everywhere.
    • Storybots and Magic School Bus on Netflix are also some great educational shows you may use.
  • Story time -
